Fitting In

Before every new addition we wonder how the rest of the gang will adjust to a new sibling. We shouldn't even give it a second thought. Our children have, honestly, never been jealous of a new addition. No one has ever felt displaced or jealous.

I would like to think that is because we don't have long discussions about how we'll still love them even if we have another baby and read any of those silly "Your New Baby" books that tell kids how much trouble babies are and how busy mommy will be with the new baby. Seriously, if you are going to read books about babies to your kids, read ones about the development of the baby in the womb. It truly is an amazing miracle and kids are smart enough to realize that! And if your going to talk to them, talk about how wonderful babies are and how sweet they were when they were a baby.  We don't even put the idea into their heads that a new baby is something to be jealous over.

Our boys prayed for our baby every night for months. They were so excited to meet her when she arrived and now that she is here they are working on being the first boys to ever kiss a baby to death!

We also wonder how a new baby will fit in to the family. Not worry, just wonder. When you are already so busy you think how will there ever be time for one more? But there is time. It just works out. After awhile you wonder how you ever lived without this little person.

Annabeth fit right in to the family. I know it sounds cheesy, but whoever says love multiplies, not divides was right. Having another baby doesn't make you love anyone any less... it makes everyone (mom, dad, and kids) love a little more!
