Everybody loves a Parade!

We left a little after 9am even though the parade didn't start until 10am. The weather was beautiful, sunny and about 70, and the parade route was PACKED! This was the last parade on the "old" bridge. The boys got a little antsy waiting for the parade to get going. Hayden especially was cranky since he was missing his morning nap.

But once the parade got started they really enjoyed it. As you can see above Eli was proudly waving his flag. Even Hayden sat still in my lap while waving and clapping as the parade went by. Hayden really enjoyed the bands and even the bagpipes...with his reddish hair perhaps he has a little more Irish blood than the others! Wesley, Eli, and Justus were having a great time catching and eating candy. One person stopped walking to ask if they were triplets and another lady handing out candy counted them (and looked surprised) as she went past. We get that a lot when they all wear matching shirts!

Roz and her friends Emily and Jesse sat with us. We yelled hello to all of her friends in the marching band. Thankfully, we also knew one of the girls handing out the Seroogy's this year or I don't think we would have gotten as many meltaways as we did. The boys favorites (besides candy) were the Oscar Mayer Hot Dog car (see picture above) and the Piggly Wiggly car!

Memorial Day Fun

We had a fun Memorial Day weekend. Here are a few pictures of the boys before we headed to the parade on Monday morning. I had them in matching red, white, and blue shirts. They looked very nice in their outfits with fresh haircuts. Sunday night we put the twins and Hayden to bed and let Wesley stay up to watch the fireworks. He was so excited! We played a game of Candyland (Wesley won) while we waited for it to get dark. Jerry made a bag of popcorn to take as a snack with some lemonade to drink. Wesley did really well and wasn't scared by the booms. They were pretty loud even here at the house (Buck was hiding under the bed!). The fireworks lasted about a half hour and Wesley went straight to bed when they got home. He even slept in a little in the morning. He thought he was pretty big stuff since he was allowed to stay up late.

Ahoy Mateys!

Thursday we went with the Mothers of Multiples group to a great park the boys have nicknamed the "Pirate Ship Park". (Named for the large playground in the shape of a boat.) The weather was beautiful, sunny and about 65 degrees. Not windy at all which was a surprise since it right on the bay. It was a perfect day for play and a picnic. I made the lunch the night before and we left here about 9:30am. We played with the other kids until about 11:15 when we stopped for our picnic lunch of peanut butter and jelly sandwiches with chips, orange slices and homemade chocolate chip cookies for dessert. We had lemonade to drink which the boys all consider to be a special treat.

The big hit of the day was playing in the sand. They have little diggers built in, but we also brought our sand toys from home. They sat and dug and built "sand castles" for almost an hour. We just might have to get a sand box for at home. I don't know if Jerry would go for that but it sure kept all four of them entertained for a LONG time. Even little Hayden had a shovel and was digging. In fact, he carried his little orange shovel the whole time. I finally had to take it away so he could eat!

Everyone was very well behaved. I'm always worried that someone is going to run off when I have everyone out by myself, but they were all very good. Hayden got a little crabby since he missed his morning nap but once he had lunch he perked up again. The only whining we had was as were driving away when everyone was sad to go home. Wesley asked if we could "come back tomorrow?" and Justus wanted to "stay forever".

Bubble Boys

This picture is from Wednesday. Blowing bubbles is so much fun! No matter that the bubble juice gets spilled every 10 seconds and we go through a whole bottle in about 3 minutes. Oh, and this bubble juice is scented...it smells like grape, apple, and cotton candy...whose brilliant idea was that?! I hope it's non-toxic because as you can see Justus was enjoying popping the bubbles...with his MOUTH! Eli is a very serious bubble blower, I couldn't get him to take his eyes off the bubbles for even a second to smile at the camera.

All Dressed Up

Saturday was the annual LaForce Inc. couples dinner at the country club. It is our once a year dress up since there is a "dress code" and the men are required to wear jackets. I had to do a little shopping around to find a maternity dress I thought was acceptable (most showed too much skin for me). Jerry looked nice in his navy blue suit with the vest.

We had a good time. It is fun to talk with all the people Jerry works with everyday. Dinner was good and dessert was even better! Some kind of chocolate raspberry mousse. Yum! Roz, Grandma Joddy, and Grandpa Steve babysat for us. We didn't stay out too late...we got home around 10pm.

Outside Fun

The last few days have been down right HOT! Too early for me...I'll take 65 any day! Thankfully today is a little cooler with a nice breeze. The boys have been enjoying their outside time.

Hayden loves to be out there with the big boys. Here is a picture of him "riding" his little bike. He really just sat on it but he looked cute! Wesley "helped" him go down the little slide several times too. Hayden really seems to enjoy slides, here at home and at the park.

Scratch 'n Sniff

Don't you wish! The lilac bush is in full bloom and smells wonderful. With the windows open you can really smell them standing at the kitchen sink and sitting in the living room recliner. They don't last long, but it sure is nice while it lasts. (Click on the picture to enlarge...boy, that new digital camera really takes a nice shot!)

Like Father, Like Daughter

What can I say, brains run in the family... Roz received a "letter" in academics last night at a school awards ceremony. She also received a gold pin for getting a 4.0!! (Well, not really she got an empty bag that is supposed to have a gold pin it with a note that says the pins will be here soon).

Way back when I didn't even know you could "letter" in academics. But Jerry did also! So Roz is following in a fine family tradition. Way to go Rozzy!
